2007 Zoar Road Race Results

Despite the rainy weather, over 100 riders took part in the 5th annual Zoar Road Race today in Zoar, OH. Thanks to the community of Zoar, the participants, all of our volunteers and officials, Gary Bywaters and Dan Gabelman, for another great event!

The cat. 5/citizen field was won by Scott Warren of Dover, OH, in a bunch sprint. The junior field was won by Russ Folgle [Rainbow Inks].

In the cat. 4 race, Noah Gurney [Rainbow Inks] launched an impressive solo breakaway and held on for several laps. Despite his effort, the field eventually regrouped and Erik Lesco [Stark Velo] won in a bunch sprint. Don Bunker [Stark Velo] was second, and Richard Gould [Rainbow Inks], third.

In the women's field, a breakaway of three riders sorted out the podium: Rebecca Mathews [ProGraphics] taking the win, followed by Trish Ingraham [Summa] and Mary Ellen Bailey [Stark Velo].

Steve Fenster [Orrville] was the early aggressor Masters 35+ field, going on the attack alone. Sal Ponzio [MVC] joined the break, and then eventually rode away with the win. Rick Parr [Stark Velo] took the field sprint for second, and Dave Young [Orrville] was third. Scott Thor has posted a race report from the Masters 35+ field.

A two-man break, Brian Batke [Team Columbus] and Daniel Quinlan [MVC], took first and second in the cat. 1/2/3 field after the duo succeeded in putting more than two minutes between themselves and the field. Third place was won by Jeremy Grimm [Godpseed] in the bunch sprint.
